Everton are preparing to make a summer move for Valencia starlet Carles Gil.

Winger Gil is currently in the middle of his second season-long loan at Elche, for whom he has made 54 league appearances since the start of last term.

The 21-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club, who are mindful of Everton's mounting interest.

The Toffees have had a representative in attendance for most of Elche's fixtures since the turn of the year and are reportedly willing to pay the Spain Under-21 international's £6.5m release clause fee in the summer.-- Camisetas De España

However, Everton must persuade the player himself to make the move to Goodison Park. Gil's current ambition is to return to Valencia and try to make a breakthrough at the Mestalla next season.

Everton are not the only English club to register an interest in Gil in recent months - both Manchester City and QPR tracked him last year.
